Dr. Randal Chase, Chairman of the Board and Director, Corporate Director (Former President, Shire Biologics)
Mr. Chase’s early career was at Bristol Meyers and Glaxo Pharmaceutical. He is also a former president of QLT, North American Vaccine and Aventis Pasteur Canada. Dr. Chase has been President and Chief Executive Officer of ImmunoVaccine Technologies Inc. since 2006. From 2005 to 2006, Dr. Chase was Chairman of the Board of directors of Molecular Templates Inc. From 2001 to 2004, Dr. Chase was President of Shire Biologics Inc. From May 2001 to August 2002, Dr. Chase was Senior Vice-President, Vaccines Operations of Biochem Pharma Inc. He is a member of the board of Biotech Canada. He is a director of Bioject Medical Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ) and was a director of Acambis PLC (London Stock Exchange, NASDAQ) until its sale in late 2008, and was a director of Conjuchem Inc. and of Conjuchem Biotechnologies Inc. (TSX). Dr. Chase holds a Bachelor’s of sciences degree (biochemistry) from Bishop’s University and obtained in 1974 a PhD from the University of British Columbia. Dr. Chase subsequently completed a post doctoral fellowship at the McArdle Cancer Institute of the University of Wisconsin.

Mr. Pierre Des Marais II, O.C., Director, Corporate Director
Over the past 40 years, Mr. Des Marais II has served on the board of more than 20 companies, most notably: Rothmans Inc., Imperial Oil Ltd., Royal Bank of Canada, Sleeman Breweries Ltd., Canadian National Railways, Goodyear Canada, Carling O’Keefe Ltd., Canadair Ltd., and Air Canada. He was President and CEO of Unimedia for 12 years until July 1999. Mr. Des Marais II was Mayor of the City of Outremont, a suburb of Montreal, for 14 years. From 1978 to 1985, Mr. Des Marais II was Chairman of the Executive Committee of Montreal Urban Community. He started his career as Managing Director at the age of 21 at his family’s firm, Pierre Des Marais Inc., one of Canada’s largest printing companies. Mr. Des Marais II studied Business Administration at the “Haute Etudes Commerciales” in Montreal.

Mr. Jonathan R. Goodman, Director, President and Chief Executive Officer, Paladin Labs Inc.
Mr. Goodman is President and Chief Executive Officer of Paladin Labs Inc. since 1995. Prior to co-founding Paladin Labs Inc., Mr. Goodman was a consultant with Bain & Company and also worked in brand management for Procter & Gamble. Mr. Goodman holds a Bachelor’s of Arts, with Great Distinction, from McGill University and the London School of Economics with 1st Class Honours. Additionally, Mr. Goodman holds an LL.B. (1994) and an M.B.A. (1994) from McGill University. Mr. Goodman is a member of the Bars of New York and Massachusetts, is an Accredited Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Representative and is a seasonal lecturer in pharmaceutical entrepreneurship at McGill University. Mr. Goodman is a past recipient of the Globe and Mail’s Top 40 Under 40 award and was named Québec Entrepreneur of the Year in Life Sciences by Ernst &Young.

Mr. Pierre Marc Johnson, Director, Senior Counsel Heenan Blaikie
Mr. Johnson is a lawyer, physician, former Premier of Quebec and former professor of law at McGill University. He has been Of Counsel with the offices of Heenan Blaikie LLP since 1996. He is recognized for his expertise in international trade negotiations and international partnerships as well as environmental and health law. From 1976 to 1987, he was a member of the Quebec Legislature Assembly and in senior cabinet positions before becoming Premier in 1985. He was a founding Vice-Chair of the Prime Minister's National Round Table on the Environment and the Economy of Canada, chaired its Foreign Policy committee for seven years. He also served as a Special Advisor to the Secretary General of the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED) and to the North American Commission on Environmental Cooperation. Mr. Johnson was a director of several major corporations and currently sits on the boards of ACE Aviation Holdings Corporation, Air Canada and Holcim Canada; he chairs the foresight committee of the Veolia Institute for the Environment of Paris. In 2006, he was appointed chair of the board of directors of the Quartier de la Santé (Health district corporation), a Montreal-based organization created to foster diagnostic and therapeutic innovation. Mr. Johnson holds an honorary doctorate from the Université Claude Bernard Lyon I, France. He is Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, Grand Officier of the Ordre de la Pléiade and Grand Officer of the Ordre National du Québec.

Mr. Pierre Seccareccia, Director, Corporate Director
Mr. Seccareccia has more than 35 years of experience in financial consulting and management. A partner of the Coopers & Lybrand accounting firm from 1976 to 1998, he acted as Managing Partner for its Montreal south shore office from 1987 to 1989, for its Montreal central office from 1992 to 1996, and for its offices in the Province of Québec from 1996 to 1998. Following the merger in 1998 of Coopers & Lybrand with Price Waterhouse, he acted as Managing Partner for the Montreal office of PricewaterhouseCoopers from 1998 to 2001. Since 2003, he is a full-time director for various public and private entities, including Genivar Income Fund, GLV Inc., Boralex Inc. and New Millenium Capital Corp. Mr. Seccareccia is a Fellow of the Québec Order of Chartered Accountants and a member of the Institute of Corporate Directors (Canada) and of the National Association of Corporate Directors (U.S.A.). He is also a graduate from École des Hautes Études Commerciales (1969).

Mr. Andrew J. Sheldon, Director, President and Chief Executive Officer, Medicago Inc.
Mr. Sheldon has been President and Chief Executive Officer of Medicago since August 2003. He has more than twenty years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry. Before joining the company, Mr. Sheldon was Vice-President, Sales and Marketing, of Shire Biologics where he was responsible for its international expansion through European, American and Asian private partnership agreements. He was also responsible for distribution, customer, maintenance and engineering at the Shire facility and successfully negotiated annual and pandemic vaccine contracts with the federal and provincial governments. From 1998 to 2000, he was Senior Manager of Commercial Operations where he successfully managed the approval of a bladder cancer therapeutic vaccine by the FDA. In 1997 and 1998, he was Marketing Manager for Merial Canada Inc. From 1992 to 1997, he was Director of Canadian Operations with Rhône Mérieux. From 1988 to 1992, he was National Sales Manager for Smithkline Beecham. Mr. Sheldon has a Bachelor Degree in Agricultural Sciences from Laval University, and a Bachelor of Science degree with Honours in Biological Sciences from the University of East Anglia, Norwich, England.

Dr. Louis Philippe Vézina, Director, Chief Scientific Officer, Medicago Inc.
Dr. Vézina is Vice-President and Chief Scientific Officer, and a co-founder of the Company. He has the responsibility to develop Medicago’s technological vision and to oversee all of Medicago’s scientific and technological activities and assets. Before founding Medicago, he was a group leader in Plant Biotechnology at Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada where he developed some of the enabling technologies currently used by Medicago. He also had a major contribution as academia through the supervision of numerous PH.D and Master theses. Dr. Vézina is inventor or co-inventor for more than 100 patents. Dr. Vézina was in charge of organizing The International Congress of Plant Molecular Biology held in Quebec City, Quebec in 2000, one of the largest scientific conference held in Canada. Dr. Vézina has a bachelor’s of sciences in agronomy, with a plant major from McGill University, Montreal, a master’s of sciences degree in plant physiology and a Ph.D. in biochemistry and plant molecular biology from Université Laval, Québec City. His doctoral and post-doctoral studies include training in biochemistry and molecular biology at the University of Carleton, the University of Ottawa and the University of Warwick, England.
