Andy Sheldon, President and Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Sheldon has been President and Chief Executive Officer of Medicago since August 2003. He has more than twenty years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry. Before joining the company, Mr. Sheldon was Vice-President, Sales and Marketing, of Shire Biologics where he was responsible for its international expansion through European, American and Asian private partnership agreements. He was also responsible for distribution, customer, maintenance and engineering at the Shire facility and successfully negotiated annual and pandemic vaccine contracts with the federal and provincial governments. From 1998 to 2000, he was Senior Manager of Commercial Operations where he successfully managed the approval of a bladder cancer therapeutic vaccine by the FDA. In 1997 and 1998, he was Marketing Manager for Merial Canada Inc. From 1992 to 1997, he was Director of Canadian Operations with Rhône Mérieux. From 1988 to 1992, he was National Sales Manager for Smithkline Beecham. Mr. Sheldon has a Bachelor Degree in Agricultural Sciences from Laval University, and a Bachelor of Science degree with Honours in Biological Sciences from the University of East Anglia, Norwich, England.

Louis-Philippe Vézina, Ph.D, Chief Scientific Officer

Dr Vézina is Vice-President and Chief Scientific Officer, and a co-founder of the Company. He has the responsibility to develop Medicago’s technological vision and to oversee all of Medicago’s scientific and technological activities and assets. Before founding Medicago, he was a group leader in Plant Biotechnology at Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada where he developed some of the enabling technologies currently used by Medicago. He also had a major contribution as academia through the supervision of numerous PH.D and Master theses. Dr. Vézina is inventor or co-inventor for more than 100 patents. Dr. Vézina was in charge of organizing The International Congress of Plant Molecular Biology held in Quebec City, Quebec in 2000, one of the largest scientific conference held in Canada. Dr. Vézina has a bachelor’s of sciences in agronomy, with a plant major from McGill University, Montreal, a master’s of sciences degree in plant physiology and a Ph.D. in biochemistry and plant molecular biology from Université Laval, Québec City. His doctoral and post-doctoral studies include training in biochemistry and molecular biology at the University of Carleton, the University of Ottawa and the University of Warwick, England.

Pierre Labbé, Chartered Accountant, Vice President and Chief Financial Officer

Pierre Labbé is a Chartered Accountant with more than 20 years of financial experience. He was most recently Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Plexmar Resources Inc. (TSX-V: PLE). Prior to Plexmar, Mr. Labbé spent three years as Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Secretary of Medicago. He served as CFO of Sequoia Minerals Inc. and Mazarin Inc. from March 2000 to December 2003. Prior to March 2000, Mr. Labbé held management positions in accounting and finance with Agrinove, an agrifood cooperative and Coopers & Lybrand, now PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, where he was involved in many acquisitions and public financing projects. He has been Director of Advitech Inc. (TSX-V: AVI) since May 11, 2007, and Director of Mines Virginia Inc. since May 2008. He holds a degree in Business Administration and Accounting Sciences from Université Laval. He is a member of the Ordre des comptables agréés du Québec and of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants.

Frederic Ors, B.Sc., M.A., Vice-President, Business development

Mr. Ors has more than ten years of experience in Licensing, Intellectual Property and business development in biotechnology. He joined Medicago in 2001 and oversees Business Development activities. He is also responsible for securing Medicago's Freedom to Operate and establishing IP strategies. Before joining Medicago, he was licensing manager for four years at one of the largest science and medical universities in France. He has a B.Sc. degree in Biology and a Master degree in Management from Angers University (France), as well as a Diploma in Biomedical business development from Pierre et Marie Curie University (France).

Nathalie Landry, M.Sc., MBA, Vice-President, Product Development

Ms. Landry earned a Master in microbiology-immunology in 1989 and a MBA in 1997 both from Laval University. She has more than 17 years of experience in the biotech industry. Prior to joining Medicago she worked in a biotech company developing and producing anticancer compounds holding various positions such as scientist, I.P. manager and Director of Operations. She joined Medicago in 2000 as Director of Strategic Development managing business development activities and intellectual property. In 2004, she became Senior Director of Product Development managing the multi-disciplinary team producing various recombinant proteins in plants. Since 2007, she is Vice-President Product Development and in charge of activities relating to small-scale production and purification, product characterization and formulation, as well as preclinical and clinical studies.

Irene Clement, Vice-President, Regulatory affairs

Ms. Irene Clement is an accomplished Senior Regulatory Professional with 26 years of "hands on" experience in the Biologics industry and 21 years in Regulatory Affairs. Ms. Clement has a proven track record in directing and carrying out world-wide Regulatory Affairs, in bringing products through the regulatory process with US FDA, Canadian, European, and WHO regulatory authorities as well as relevant authorities in other parts of the world. From Nov. 2002 to Sept 2004, she was Vice President, Regulatory Affairs. for Shire Biologics, a Division of Shire BioChem Inc. where she had corporate global responsibility for all regulatory matters. Prior to that, 1992 to Nov. 2002 she was Director, Regulatory Affairs, and Authorized Official at Aventis Pasteur Limited. Ms. Clement received a B.Sc. in microbiology from the University of Calgary, Alberta. She is also Medical Laboratory Technologist from Holy Cross Hospital, Calgary, Alberta.

Brigitte Barbeau, B. Sc., Vice-President, Manufacturing

Ms. Barbeau is Vice-President manufacturing since May 26, 2008. In this newly created position, Ms. Barbeau leads the Company’s manufacturing functions to accelerate the development of Medicago’s H5N1 pandemic influenza vaccine and other vaccine candidates. Prior to joining Medicago, Ms. Barbeau served as quality assurance and quality control director at GlaxoSmithKline Biologicals. From March 2006 to May 2008, she led a 200-member team and was responsible for the functions of quality control analytical validation and stability, quality assurance, compliance and document control in both GSK’s Laval and Ste-Foy influenza production facilities. From 2002 to 2006, Ms. Barbeau served as quality control director at Shire and ID Biomedicals. Prior to Shire, Ms. Barbeau was at Galderma Production Canada in 2001, Biomatrix Medical Canada from 1998 to 2001 and Biochem ImmunoSystems from 1989 to 1998. Ms. Barbeau holds a BS in biology from Sherbrooke University.
